
In response to Russia’s recent massive aerial assault on Ukraine, US President Joe Biden emphasized that the attack underscores Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unchanged objective to obliterate Ukraine and subjugate its people. Biden called on Congress to urgently pass additional assistance for Ukraine, citing the importance of supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. Despite Biden’s request for nearly $60 billion in aid, funding remains stalled amid negotiations over US immigration rules.
The situation escalated further as a Russian missile temporarily entered Polish airspace during the assault. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan assured Poland of solidarity and pledged technical assistance in the investigation. Poland’s military confirmed the violation, stating that radar data indicates a Russian missile entered and left Polish airspace.
In response to the heightened conflict, Ukraine has called for an urgent United Nations Security Council meeting. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba highlighted the need to address Russia’s missile and drone attacks, resulting in civilian casualties and significant damage to infrastructure.
Tragically, a 53-year-old primary school teacher named Oksana Vorobyova was among those killed in Zaporizhzhia during the assault. Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi expressed condolences, describing the teacher as a dedicated educator who raised generations of students with wisdom and responsibility. Vorobyova’s colleagues remembered her as an energetic, hardworking, and loving individual, emphasizing the profound loss to the educational community.
